ACCRA, March 2022, The Defence Industries Holding Company (DIHOC) Limited and Denzel Logistics Limited today announce the creation of a joint special purpose vehicle, DIHOC DENZEL GHANA LIMITED, to undertake the dredging and restoration of Ghana’s major river bodies devastated by illegal mining operations.
The venture unites two very different institutions around a single national objective. DIHOC contributes the discipline, security infrastructure, and institutional authority of Ghana’s defence industrial establishment, operating under the Ministry of Defence. Denzel Logistics contributes end‑to‑end supply‑chain and maritime logistics expertise built across operations on five continents.
The SPV structure ring‑fences the programme’s governance, finances, and obligations within a single accountable entity, a deliberate response to the fragmented arrangements that have undermined previous interventions against galamsey.
The Restore Ghana Project, the SPV’s founding mandate, will concentrate on the Offin, Pra, and Ankobra basins, pairing industrial desiltation with ecological restoration and community‑anchored economic programmes. Details of the phased implementation plan, beginning with a pilot operation on the River Offin, will be announced following stakeholder consultations.
